Dr. Jeffrey Holland
Owner/Optometrist
Dr. Jeffrey Holland is a Boulder native. He graduated from the University of Colorado in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts, and later went on to Pacific University in Oregon where he graduated with a Doctorate in Optometry in 2002. During his time at Pacific, Dr. Holland was the president of ‘Amigos Eye Care’, where he organized and participated in eye care trips to developing countries. Dr. Holland is very dedicated to his profession and enjoys attending vision conferences each year with members of his staff to keep up on new trends and technologies in the eye care industry. Away from work Dr. Holland enjoys traveling, exercise and watching sports with his two children.
Dr. Andrea Lu
Optometrist
Dr. Lu is a dedicated optometrist who has been providing exceptional eye care to patients since graduating from Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO) in 2021. A Colorado native, Dr. Lu began her journey in optometry after earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2015.
During her time at SCCO, Dr. Lu gained extensive clinical experience through fourth-year externships at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, the University Eye Center in Los Angeles, California, Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Sacaton, Arizona, and Ketchum Health in Anaheim, California.
In addition to her clinical education, her experience at various clinical and private practice settings have allowed her to develop her skills in diagnosing/managing ocular disease, fitting soft and specialty contact lenses, and providing dry eye treatments.
Outside of work, Dr. Lu DJs at various concert venues in Denver and has performed out-of-state in cities such as New York, Seattle, and Sacramento. In her free time, Dr. Lu enjoys attending concerts, weightlifting, and dry flower-arranging.
Rachelle Hanson
ABO Certified Optician
Although new to the world of optics, Rachelle is excited to expand her knowledge and skills. She is happy to help, whether that be finding the perfect pair of glasses for our patients, teaching someone how to put in contact lenses, or answering peoples questions. She fancies herself a bit of a jack of all trades, having dabbled in many industries, and loves to add new experiences to her repertoire. She is thrilled to be a part of the team here at College Optical and looks forward to learning all that she can. New to Boulder, Rachelle spends her time off exploring the city and finding new trails to hike. When she's not out adventuring, she loves to settle down with a good book or work on her paintings.
Brenan McManus
ABO Certified Optician
Brenan was born and raised in Pueblo, but has lived in the Boulder area for 20 years. He started working at College Optical in 2003 while he was earning his degree in architecture from CU. He now has a wonderful wife, Kendra, and an amazing daughter, Vivian. As the longest tenured employee, Brenan possesses optical knowledge that can only be gained through experience. It’s what makes him an excellent optician and the resident technical expert. He is a die-hard Denver Broncos fan, and literally counts the days between football seasons. His other interests include golfing, smoking meats, and spending time with his family & friends.
Ben Anderson
ABO Certified Optician
Ben joined the College Optical team in January 2020. Equal parts Florida native and Nebraska farm boy, he went to music school in Los Angeles and Chicago before winding up in Boulder in 2013 to continue his studies. Like many CU students, Ben met Dr. Holland as a patent and his eyes have thanked him ever since! Ben enjoys getting to know people, and feels lucky to serve College Optical’s wide range of customers, helping them improve their look and vision through eyewear. When not a work, he is likely reading, writing, playing his horn, cooking, listening to music or stargazing. Ben was born on April Fools’ Day (no foolin’), and he takes his birthday very seriously.
Danny Neubert
ABO Certified Optician
Danny has been at College Optical since 2006. His versatile skill set help keep things running smoothly. Whether it’s pre-testing patients, dealing with insurance, or teaching someone how to use contact lenses, Danny does a little bit of everything. He’s the resident joker and likes to keep the mood light with his sense of humor. Danny is passionate about writing and graduated from CU with a degree in journalism. He loves music and live shows, and can be found at Red Rocks several times throughout the summer. Danny’s other hobbies include golfing (both disc and regular), going to movies, playing Xbox, mountain biking, and snowboarding. He currently lives in Arvada with his wife Elise and their dog. As a native, Danny loves all Colorado sports teams but his favorite is the Denver Nuggets, whom he has vowed to honor with a tattoo should they ever win the NBA championship.
